Facebook has many attractions. At the same time it’s a clunky piece of software. Many of the add-in applications don’t work and integrate poorly with the rest of the site. The potential for a decent educational programme to draw on its features is certainly there, though. Udutu (makers of online course creation software; see here) are now offering a Facebook application that allows you to deliver courses created for online delivery through Facebook. I haven’t tested this yet in practice with an actual class, but it looks interesting.
